Project Update: April 2016
Having successfully completed many projects for Icon Constructions, their design team approached us to provide a solution for their exciting 560 Flinders St project. The brief was to produce a nib wall solution between all windows on their 30 level tower.
This challenge required the nibs to be fully fire rated under the new building codes, acoustic installation compliant with Australian standards as well accommodating a down pipe installed right through the middle of the nib.
This saw the nibs constructed off-site in our workshop from customised framing wrapped in cement sheet, then an aluminium skin adhered to the outside in a luxurious Pewter Pearl finish. Seven nibs every 5 days were constructed and then installed over a full day onsite allowing the window installers to follow behind. Icon Constructions would then jump the screens to begin the next level. All 30 levels were delivered and installed to program and working closely with other trades.
The next stage was the building of the façade fins along Flinders St and Downie St at 6m high and wrapped in composite architectural cladding.
During the installation process many changes were made to allow extra bulk heads and perforated sections along the entire façade to accommodate gas ducts and other designated termination points.
Once again Icon Constructions were extremely satisfied with the superior finish and troubleshooting Industry Cladding & Roofing were able to provide throughout the build.
Thank you to Peter Brimsmead and his team at Icon Constructions for trusting us with such an innovative project.
